MineCalo ("we", "our", "the app") is a nutrition and calorie tracking app. This policy explains what data the app collects, how it is used, and how you can control or delete it.
MineCalo uses Sign in with Apple and Sign in with Google exclusively — there is no separate MineCalo password. We receive a unique, non-reversible identifier from Apple/Google for your account, and your name and email address only if you choose to share them (Apple's "Hide My Email" is fully supported). Your MineCalo account is keyed by an internal identifier, never by email, so linking or merging accounts by email address never happens.
With your explicit permission, MineCalo reads and writes data through Apple HealthKit: steps, active/resting energy, workouts, weight, heart rate, sleep, and related metrics. This data is used only to calculate your calorie budget and show your activity inside the app. Health data from HealthKit is never sent to our servers — it stays on your device, exactly as Apple's HealthKit is designed to work. You can revoke access at any time in iOS Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → MineCalo.
If you use AI food-photo analysis or the AI nutrition coach, the photo or text you submit is sent securely to our backend server, which forwards it to Google's Gemini API to generate a nutrition estimate or response, then discards it — we do not retain a copy of submitted photos or messages on our servers beyond what's needed to serve that single request. Usage counts (not content) are recorded to enforce free-tier daily limits.
Meals, weights, and other entries you log are stored on your device (and, if enabled, mirrored into Apple Health). Your nutrition profile (age, height, goals, targets) is stored on our backend, tied to your internal account identifier, so your targets stay in sync if you reinstall the app.
MineCalo Premium is an auto-renewable subscription purchased and managed entirely through Apple's App Store (StoreKit). We never see or store your payment details — Apple handles billing directly. Our backend verifies your subscription status with Apple's servers to unlock Premium features on your account.
You can permanently delete your MineCalo account and all associated backend data at any time from Settings → Account → Delete Account. This removes your account, nutrition profile, and subscription records from our servers. Data already stored in your own Apple Health remains under your control via the Health app.
MineCalo uses the following third-party services to operate: Apple (Sign in with Apple, HealthKit, StoreKit), Google (Sign in with Google, Gemini API for AI features), Open Food Facts and USDA FoodData Central (public barcode/nutrition databases, queried without sending any personal data).
MineCalo is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If this policy changes materially, we'll update the date above and, for significant changes, notify you in the app.
